I'm fully aware that I am *possibly* the worst blogger to exist on the face of the internet. I've hinted at this in a few other posts (trust me, they aren't that many...), but I've fallen out of love with blogging at the moment. This is not to say that I still don't enjoying creating content and pursuing creative realms, but the act of being an influencer and always being "on" has really taken a toll on me. I like to believe that I'll come back to blogging more reguarly, but I'm taking it in piecemeal.

Last week, I took a much needed social media detox and simply deleted the apps from my phone. During that break, I realized that I do enjoy certain aspects of social media and the authentic content that certain individuals put out into the world. However, I came away knowing that I used to spend way too much time concerned with other's lives and the image they put out in the world than I should have been. In fact, I have been practicing the technique of consuming "mindful media".

For me, that means following people that promote positivity or provide something that I want to learn about and explore, and unfollowing accounts that don't do anything for me. It is also paying attention to what you consume apart from social media; think about podcasts, television shows, etc. I am much more chill with shows and movies though.... watching Baywatch was one of the best decisions I've made in awhile. Ha.

To continue, another reason that I decided to refocus my energy away from social media and into the real world, is that I want to truly live in the moment. That my friends, is still a work in progress and probably will continue to be. I'm slowly finding ways to be present. Spending less time on Instagram is one way. I'm also training for a half-marathon and have found running to be mediative to me. Just me, the music, and my two feet. Speaking of music, I've been on somewhat of a "music exploration", thanks to Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Times. Music.is.just.so.cool.

I can say it everyday, life is too short. There is no reason to not live your best life and do it the way you desire. Oh I know. It sounds so incredibly cheesy and cliche. However, as I've learned over the past several months, all of this takes time. So, start today or tomorrow. Just get out there and do what you love. Simply start.

Endless Possibilities

The middle of July often brings along a summer style rut where all of those linen dresses and lace tops purchased back in May, become dull and blah. Thus, we must hit the style refresh button in order to spice things up. One of my favorite summer tricks is the scarf-as-a-shirt. Depending on the area size of your respectable scarf, options can be endless. In my case, I prefer the updated tube top.... plenty of shoulders and back to show off in the late summer sun. Try it on the beach or for dinner. Endless summer equals endless possibilities.

I would be lying if I didn't admit that this look was completely, no-doubt-about-it, inspired by The Parent Trap... the 90s version of course. It's a hybrid of the twins' matching yellow looks and the Ralph Lauren button down looks. Thank you, Nancy Meyers for the plethora of sartorial inspiration. Please make another movie, so I can continue this journey.

Sidenote, yellow is the color of my dreams right now, hence this look. Faded yellow looks particularly charming with bright, firetruck red. Throws you for a loop of color confusion. It just works.

Purple Crush

I’ve professed my love for Reál in the past and I’ll say it again and again. They are the absolute dreamiest dresses in the world, maybe a hyperbolic statement but I doubt it, and I could wear one every single day. This purple beauty has brought a romantic touch to my closet whilst still remaining true to my own vibe. I’ve been on a bit of a spending halt this month (more on that later), so I’m taking advantage of the gorgeous items already hanging in my wardrobe. Per example, I’ve worn this baby out on the town with earrings and espadrilles or during the day with loafers and my favorite, falling apart at the seams sweater.  What can I say? I’m an outfit-repeater, but when the criminal is this charming… I guess it can fly.

It's a Picnic Party

About time I got a new post up on here! It's been way too long and apologize for the absence.

I feel like I keep saying that every post, but I promise things will be running smoothly once my junior year is finito. Now onto the good stuff:

I had to quickly show this incredible skirt that I scored from Asos (I mentioned it in this post!). Normally I'm not the gal who a) goes for the midi skirt and b) desires to resemble a picnic blanket. Buy, hey, I surprise myself every day. Since shooting these photos (which are pretty spectacular, right?), I actually brought this skirt to the tailor in order to remove the top ruffle to tone down the skirt a little bit and make it less voluminous. Sadly, I'm not an Amazonian goddess, so the less volume the better here.

Okay, okay.

Confession time now.I purely bought this skirt for 4th of the July weekend. If you didn't already know, I LIVE for the 4th and any chance I get to share my unwavering patriotism through sartorial decisions, I run all the way clad in red, white, and blue.

I also just really love this skirt. Truth.

Little Red Hoodie

Oh, athleisure. You shook up the fashion industry and brought comfort to the impractical.

I will debate the pros and cons of incorporating god forsaken athleisure apparel into one's clothing arsenal until I'm blue in the face. Trust me I love comfort just as the next person, but denim always wins over leggings. On the other hand, hoodies are a whole another story. It's the sportier sister of the cableknit in my eyes and most definitely the favorite of the moment. While a no-brainer pre and post workout, it is also best paired with a handful of classics. I personally recommend Gucci loafers, or something of that sort, to induce confusion of others on why the hell you are pairing a hoodie with loafers. The answer? For the sake of fashion, of course.
