fall style

Down by The Dock

Finally sharing some photos from my Hamptons trip a few weekends back. With my former computer hitting the fan, I am up and running once again with some new technology and fresh mindset post-Thanksgiving break.

Keeping it short and sweet today since the Monday back after a holiday is always a rough one.

Go forth and drink some coffee, kids.

Central Park Daydream

27 (1).JPG

Animal print, loafers, and middle parts? It's a Love Story induced daydream sans the plethora of tears. It was also my exact inpsiration for this shoot with my new Aussie friend, Gabi. Not only is Gabi one of the sweetest souls I've ever met, but she is wickedly talented. So, I happen to geek out a little bit when I cross paths with people a la Gabi; plus it is the cherry on top when your ~creative~ visions align. Any who, post-snapping, we walked around the park and worked our way to Columbus Circle in search of food. With coffees and lunch in hand, we topped the afternoon with a picnic style lunch and great conversation.

I like to think that days like these are the ones that I'm living most in the moment .As I like to say to my friends, the best moments in life are the ones that have no proof.

September Moodboard & Mixtape

Praise! REJOICE! The hot and steamy is coming to an end and I'm in a fall state of mind despite what weather.com informs me.

Ignorance is bliss.

Soon enough though, the weather will balance out my lust for leaves and sweater weather.... wow, I have problems. On the sartorial side of my wild brain, I have been dreaming of a high neck meets fisherman knit, perhaps in a deep blue or a mustard? I've been scouring the interwebs, but I have come to think that the vintage route is the best way. Come October, I'm imagining these "sweaters" (aka a fixture of my dreams) paired with Outdoor Voices leggings for the dreamiest errands outfit known to mankind.

For the general vibe, I tend to veer into the classic prep lane when Autumn rolls around. It feels right to stick to more traditional clothing with droplets of rock and roll mixed in. 60s prep meets 70s hippie is forever my aesthetic. Quite a strong one, mid I inject.

In the ears and on the speakers is tons of old school rock and roll; Rolling Stones, Ramones, Beatles, Eagles. Their music is made to sound best live, so be sure to click those when searching on your musical channel of choice. For me, it's Spotify. And you can listen to it all, here, in my Autumn 16 playlist.

My other current crushes are the following: Outdoor Voices everything, Glossier's new super serums, my new leopard coat, cauliflower rice, hot coffee, and the holy grail of Whole Food's oatmeal: gingerbread.

What a time to be alive.

Autumn Essentials

I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that September is um... next week? The air has been changing ever so slightly in New England with 50 degrees at night and that sneaky "fall bite". I'm heading up to Newport today to jump town before the hectic rush of back to school sets in. Secretly hoping that Rhode Island jumped on the Autumn train early, so that I can whip out some sweaters. Since New England's Autumn months are fickle with Indian summer and chilly nights, it makes incorprating those lusted fall pieces a gradual process.

To begin, my top tips for weaving into a new sartorial season are the following. Do not buy everything at once. As much as I wish to purchase velvet boots, I can almost guarantee I won't be wearing them till late September (unless, of course I want to roast in the sun). Try not to be that  person that is sweltering in a jacket when others are lounging in next-to-nothing slips and 'kinis. There is a time and place for everything. Also, look across the pond for inspiration and take detailed notes. Both the Brits and Euros are full on experts on transitional style (blame the weather or their endless cool factor). One of my favorite French girls, Adenorah, pairs her Castañer wedges with denim and oversized sweaters in the Fall, instead of traditional summery dresses a la right now.

Now, what's on my list, you ask?

Black mom jeans

Camel jacket

Classic loafers

Navy fisherman sweater | Borrowed from the boys

Velvet overload

What are the items that I've already picked up? Well, wait and see.

At First Sight

Wearing: Zara sweater (last worn here-super similar option here + 25% off),Zara skirt,Manolo Blahnik pumps,Ray-Ban shades

#currentlytrending: An affinity for an at the knee or below. After a little late night shopping at the great z to a-r-a, this black mesh skirt showed up at my doorstep. To my luck, it was  love at first sight, but hey, we all can't win at life... it was a size too big. Don't get used to this skirt thing though, my poor pale legs have already resorted to fleece lined tights and worn in denim.

As I was going for a high waisted skirt to amp up my woolly knits and bring a little something something into my wardrobe... le sigh, life is full of twist and turns.  In a result, I ended up with a longer hemline and a love at first sight with another one of the Z's best- this sweater.

Talk about a match made in retail heaven.

On another random note, sporting a sartorial color scheme of red and black made me think of vampires. Yes, your waking (or sleepy) eyes read that correctly. Halloween has come and past, and and the holidays are upon us, yet the classic color combination with forever be tied with gothic vampires.

Bless my soul.

Despite my vampire color connections and sleep-deprived, movie-watching eyes (that made an appearance here), this outfit is filed under: wear more often.

Maybe late night shopping is a good thing.... (ha!)

Circle Shades

The round eyewear that became known thanks to the plethora of 60s hippies and

one Beatle

. Normally not a fan of

futuristic fashion

that replicates strong Zeon: Girl of the 21st Century vibes, but it is certainly a refreshing change from classic aviators.

I'm not the first to admit that I'd rather not be bug eyed when the sun is shining, yet something about the

modern shades

, especially when paired with classics- takes norm core to the next planet (see what I did there?)  As for someone who is immensely inspired by the 60s, a

simple lens

might be more everyday where for me compared to your space age pick.

Never the less, maybe I've come to be all about the Bug's Life meets E.T. for my eyewear. Or maybe I just have watched way too many movies...
