Penny Lane Called

Long time, no talk. I have finally found the time to sit down and write a spanking new post. And what better way to return back to the interweb with a classic and beloved Penny Lane moment? No one can resist one and let's face it, the 70s look will probably never go out of style... or so I hope to think. The over the top coat is vintage Akris borrowed from my mother's closet, along with the flared (!!) cashmere sweater from Tory Burch. Man, how I wished I shot this sweater, that was sadly disguised underneath a toasty layer of warmth. Alas, I have learnt to never risk frostbite in the name of fashion. This sweater though.... I've become infatuated with ruffles and flares lately, as they add a feminine and girly touch to my otherwise chill wardrobe. Who doesn't like to have a little flirty swish to their everyday look? I stand correct.

Signing off with a spin on Penny and a swish on my sleeve

Central Park Daydream

27 (1).JPG

Animal print, loafers, and middle parts? It's a Love Story induced daydream sans the plethora of tears. It was also my exact inpsiration for this shoot with my new Aussie friend, Gabi. Not only is Gabi one of the sweetest souls I've ever met, but she is wickedly talented. So, I happen to geek out a little bit when I cross paths with people a la Gabi; plus it is the cherry on top when your ~creative~ visions align. Any who, post-snapping, we walked around the park and worked our way to Columbus Circle in search of food. With coffees and lunch in hand, we topped the afternoon with a picnic style lunch and great conversation.

I like to think that days like these are the ones that I'm living most in the moment .As I like to say to my friends, the best moments in life are the ones that have no proof.

Sneak Attack

In the midst of a sneak attack dosage of summer in the Northeast, why not pull a look out of my lost image archive? Featuring the nouveau way of tying a men's button down... talk about kicking traditional out the door. I'd recommend playing around with the button-down, knot here and there, the possibilities are endless for sartorial success.

On another note, Autumn, come back, come back, wherever you are.

Denim + Turtlenecks

I really cannot stand how I open every post talking about the bloody weather. Well duh, yes, of course we dress for the weather. What sane person wouldn't? Oops, forgot about NYFW in September. Cashmere and leather doesn't work well with hot and humid. Anyway, I have yet to break out the golden grail of boots: the 50/50, so I'm sticking with loafers for the time being. Denim skirts are a better seasonal replacement to the denim shorts, though I'm not opposed to the denim shorts with tights combo, and turtlenecks simply rock my socks.

It's a long weekend for this gal, and I'm truly basking in the glory. Slept for 12 hours yesterday, binged watched Carpool Karaoke, dined at by Chloe, and shopped for shoes at BG. Lizzie McGuire, this is what dreams are made of.

Also, thank you all for birthday wishes on Thursday!

Back 2 Black

I told you I'd disappear for a few days! I'm currently posting up in Seattle airport waiting for my flight back to the East Coast. I'm riding out a caffeine buzz courtesy of Starbucks, in order to catch up on emails and blog work.

My last outfit around here was bright and bold- if you didn't see it, pop here folks! But, sometimes going back to black is the secret to breaking away from standard summer whites and brights. Just make sure to keep it interesting with multiple textures and either some white or metallic on the shoe part.

Just a tip: avoiding beating hot sun also makes summer darks much, much more bearable.

Oh, and Happy August!

The Look: Nasty Gal top (also worn here), Madewell shorts, Vans sneakers (worn here), Angela Roi bag, Ray-Ban sunglasses

Sailor Does Staples: Maxi(mum) Power

Keeping today's post short and sweet as I'm about to fall asleep at 9.30... that's what sailing does to you! I'm up in Rhode Island for a sailing event this weekend, so my schedule is somewhat scattered, but I promised I wouldn't let you down with only one post this week.

For the next installment of my absolute favorite series on here, Sailor Does Staples, I'm presenting the strong wielding power of the maxi dress. It's the ideal outfit in one and when complete with a slit or some v-neck action, you truly have a winning combination. Because really, when did a maxi dress ever fail you?

Oh, and I know you're checking out those shoes.... meet my shoe child on Monday.
