On the Wild Side

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!! I haven't been this excited for a pair of shoes since these Lanvin snakeskin loafers. Um, sensing a cohesive theme of jungle does designer here.

As I am not one to reach for animal print at first glance- except for a leopard cardigan circa 2006... wore the life out of the poor sweater. Yet I can handle the wild world of animal print in small doses- similar to my liking of pop music, for instance.

Around my birthday, I bookmarked these Miu Miu booties (on sale now) that are accompanied by a hefty price tag and for this chick, "All I see is $$$", isn't the correct way to describe my bank account (meh blame the holidays). Instead, I found these Rachel Zoe pair that do the trick just as well. You know that you've aced an animal print piece when The Real Housewives' wardrobes isn't the first thing you think of. Plus, at last another pair of booties that is not black. Is my black cat persona finally changing into a leopard? Not really sure how I feel about that.

Alas, don't forget the golden rule about animal prints: One. At. A. Time.

Please. For everyone's eyes and sanity (including your own).

As the Northeast gets whacked with another storm this week- which means snow- I feel like it is socially-acceptable to finally bust out the holiday tunes, let your Clark Griswold-esque holiday freak flag fly AND be "the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse... that Santa has ever seen".

Whatever floats your boat.

As my calendar quickly fills up with holiday events... and, um, er, finals.... I'm all about holiday dressing that is easy and doesn't make me look like a Christmas tree.  Instead you can find me in whole lotta blackwatch, velvet, cashmere, and wool coats; one at a time or all at once.

Now, I've teamed up with my favorite babes....

Caroline,Frannie,Sammy, and Gracey to bring you a #dwcxmas- follow on Insta for more. Be sure to hop and skip on over to each blog for their own take on holiday dressing.

That is all for now. This self-proclaimed holiday fanatic has some studying to do.

AS ALWAYS... THE PARTY TRAIN JUST KEEPS ON GOING AND GOING AND GOING...

Gray Area

Wearing:Zara knitAsos pants(similar),Vince flats,Saint Laurent bag,Larsson & Jennings watch

Despite camel being this season's new black, I've happened to find a place in my sartorial heart for every shade of gray under the sun. So in case you want to find my whereabouts, I'll be gallivanting around in this über oversized knit which happens to be in one of the many shades of gray, or in perhaps one of my latest rediscoveries; this 90s sweatshirt classic. Complete with a matching turtleneck worn under, of course. And just to spare you with the absurd amount of gray puns, I'll refrain myself from being a walking cliche today.

Logical

Bordeaux and caramel (scandi) candy hues are the perfect companion to my top of the totem pole jeans. As camel/caramel does happen to be the "it" color of the season, isn't that inherently stating that "black is the new black"? Never the less, at least these colors help avoid the black cat territory I enter, come the dead of winter. Perhaps one of the best steals of my life was this Acne Studios blazer, yes indeed it is one size too big, but size smhize. To put it in simpler logic, the bigger size; the closer it is to a blanket. Just be careful not to veer into the slightly frightening 80s lane of shoulder pads.

Quite A Quest

Wearing:Mother jeans, Brandy Melville stripes&sweater,Mango blazer,J.Crew scarfRiver Island loafers,Larson & Jennings watch

The treacherous task of finding a great pair of distressed black skinnys- hey, I like my jeans a specific way- is over. After seeing endless $300 + pairs of "ehhh" denim duds, a freaking Mother miracle- pun, most certainly intended- descended onto my tired eyes that happen to boring into a computer screen at an ungodly hour.

If you don't call that a shopping miracle, then I don't what one is! And life is made easy for me with pre-frayed ends, so I don't botch a perfectly good pair of jeans because I want them to look, I quote "cool". When worn with several knit layers on top, I'll trade my Patagonia fleece haven without somewhat of a (big) fight. Small strides....
