After have a brainstorming text session with
last night, I thought it would be a fun idea to do a frequently asked questions post. I rounded up some of the most popular questions I get and answered some. I hope you enjoy today's post and
if you have any questions that were not covered here.
When did you start blogging?
Sailing the Sea of Style was started in August 2012, but I didn't take it seriously
(those first posts *shudder, shudder*)
until December 2012.
Do you have any advice for bloggers who are just starting out?
Only write your blog for yourself. If you stay true to you, everything will fall into its place.
What is your favorite social media and how do I gain followers?
was the first social media that I was on. I also used
. I've had a personal Instagram account for awhile but only made
in July 2013. Instagram is definitely my absolute favorite. To be honest, there is no trick to gaining followers. It took me awhile to create a following on all of my social media platforms. But, my advice is to be consistent and be active.Let me know if you would like a post more on social media.
How do you edit your photos?
I swear by Adobe Lightroom 5. It is way easier than Photoshop and much less expensive. There is also great tutorials on Youtube as well.
Will you ever add video content?
Yes! I can promise that there will be some exciting videos coming here soon.
How much work do you do each day for your blog?
STSS is a 24/7 production. If I am not writing, I will be answering emails, taking photos, putting together collages... the list goes on and on. It is quite a lot of work to run blog, once you turn it into a job. Finding a steady balance between school, blog, and life is hard as well. But to answer the question, I would say I work around 3 hours on the blog total each day.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
When did you start sailing?
I've grown up comfortable on the water since my whole family sails. But, I began sailing on my own at 8 years old. I have been sailing a
for about 10 months.
I have a feature on
discussing more of my travel tips. Check out the
for and email me for specific questions- happy to help you out!

: 30 Rock, Sherlock, NCIS
I do not have a style icon but I think Emmanuelle Alt nails it every time.
