As the dog days of summer wrap up and (most of) of the world sharpens its pencils for September, let us reminisce about sunny California. Back in July, I ventured out to Southern California for a few days. Prior to this, my only visit to the state was to San Francisco when I was ten. Let us not discount that former trip as it launched a long-standing admiration for West coast culture. San Diego was a whole new arena. My time was spent bopping around with my local friend (and best host) in San Diego, La Jolla, and Newport Beach soaking in the ~perfect~ weather and learning that surf culture is well and alive. I also learnt that California does açai bowls better than anyone else— Kaboose Juice holds a very special place in my heart. I took up long boarding, lived in denim cutoffs, and hiked not once, but twice. I deem that a complete conversion to California lifestyle. While I was sad to go, I can guarantee I'll be returning once again. Without much to say, I hope you enjoy this snippet of film photos from my time in sweet, sweet San Diego.

4th in Newport, Photo Diary

As you can tell from the title of this post, I'm veerryy behind in digital content. After the fourth, I went right to Texas, then home, then California, then Massachusetts, and now finally I am back home... before I head to Boston on Thursday. Ooof.

Alas, here we are. Unlike previous weekend jaunts to Newport, which often involve a jamming sailing schedule, this one infolved a fair amount of beaching, surfing, and luxuriating-whilst drinking some Del's. Enjoy this photo diary and I'll be back soon to share my favorites from the month of July and begin working through my California content.

Location: Newport, Rhode Island

Endless Possibilities

The middle of July often brings along a summer style rut where all of those linen dresses and lace tops purchased back in May, become dull and blah. Thus, we must hit the style refresh button in order to spice things up. One of my favorite summer tricks is the scarf-as-a-shirt. Depending on the area size of your respectable scarf, options can be endless. In my case, I prefer the updated tube top.... plenty of shoulders and back to show off in the late summer sun. Try it on the beach or for dinner. Endless summer equals endless possibilities.

Wearing: Hermes silk scarf (check TheRealReal), Aritzia skirt, Castañer espadrilles (Matches is my favorite place for them), Ray-Ban shades

Location: Newport, Rhode Island

Thank You Nancy

I would be lying if I didn't admit that this look was completely, no-doubt-about-it, inspired by The Parent Trap... the 90s version of course. It's a hybrid of the twins' matching yellow looks and the Ralph Lauren button down looks. Thank you, Nancy Meyers for the plethora of sartorial inspiration. Please make another movie, so I can continue this journey.

Sidenote, yellow is the color of my dreams right now, hence this look. Faded yellow looks particularly charming with bright, firetruck red. Throws you for a loop of color confusion. It just works.

Wearing: J.Crew linen button-down, Levi's vintage denim, Hunza G x Pandora Sykes bikini, and Ray-Ban shades
