Post a long and stressful day of traveling, my mom and I spent our first night in Miami at the Viceroy. Located in the heart of downtown, the giant property overlooks both the Miami River and Biscayne Bay. Back in 2012, we stayed at the EPIC- directly across from the Viceroy- so, it's wonderful to see how much Brickell has flourished and grown into a beautiful neighborhood.
To be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan of the property. I generally prefer smaller, unique hotels and resorts that ooze character and personality. The hotel felt sterile and lack any sort of good vibes. Still at the end of the day, it is still a great place to stay if you'd rather avoid the craziness known as South Beach. After the first day, we headed south to Coconut Grove to be closer to the sailing venue, which took away a lot of extra stress. My family and I only headed back downtown once for Christmas Eve dinner at The River Seafood & Oyster Bar.... Oh, perhaps there was also a few trips to the mega Whole Foods slash JugoFresh.
