Oh-my-gee. Today is #nationalsailingtheseaofstyle day. Please sense my joking tone.... thanks (-:
Three years ago, I started Sailing the Sea of Style on a whim. Today, I still cannot believe of what it has grown into since the days of neon camera filters and awkward writing.
A massive thank you is in order to everyone who has supported me on this unpredictable and wild journey. Since starting this site, I've been able to connect with people around the world, work with some of my favorite brands, meet mentors and role models of mine, and so on. If it wasn't for all of you for reading STSS, following my rambles on Twitter, or the snapshots of my life via Instagram, no way in hell would I be where I am today.
On a slightly more serious note, here are 3 things I've learned over the years. I promise a more lol-inducing "lessons learned" post will be coming to a page near you shortly.
I cannot explain to you how important this is. Have it be online or in your private life, always be true to yourself, your beliefs, your likes & dislikes... and so on. watch the movies you like, wear the clothes you feel best in, do what makes you happy. In the end, you'll be grateful you didn't pretend to be something you aren't.
Go for IT
If you ask anyone who knows me, I'm always up for a challenge or adventure. Whenever my friends ask me for advice, I INSTINCTIVELY reply with "Go FOR IT". I try (sometimes fail) to live by these words in all areas of my life. This doesn't mean using YES as an excuse to be stupid, but instead to make the most out of life as it goes.
Learn from your MISTAKES
at this point, I realize how cheesy all these sound, but please bear with me. when growing up, we all make mistakes in every aspect of our life. Quoting Hannah Montana, nobody's perfect.... right? The best we can do is move on and learn from those little screw-ups along the way.
As odd as it may sound, I do credit the internet for helping me grow as person. Looking back at older posts, as recent as the past six months, it shows how fast life moves without us even slowing down to appreciate it. Perhaps since I do document my life on social media, I'm thankful for being able to see my self growth from post to post.
Lastly, as I would be doing zilch without any of you awesome e-pals, I've created a quick survey for you to fill out. The idea behind this is not only to connect, but to find out what you like about the site, what you hate, and any other ideas you have in mind. With this survey, I'll able to create a bigger picture on what content is the perfect match for you all.
I have loads and loads of ideas, plans, and dreams for this site.... let's do it.
